OUR STORY
Janhvi Kothari, Kareena Mehta, and Sakshi Shah met to discuss how they can bring social-emotional awareness to the academic system in India. The three of them wanted to amalgamate their passion for social work, psychology, and education to build a holistic well-being curriculum.
We started talking to students, teachers, and educators in the Banaskantha District to understand how we can connect with our cultural roots given our personal and professional passions.
We conducted focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews with 20 parents, 20 students, 15 teachers, 30 student teachers, and 10 teacher trainers to understand the need for social-emotional learning (SEL) in Banas- kantha District.
The focus group discussions made Janhvi, Kareena, and Sakshi realize the need to bring social-emotional awareness to the academic system in the Banaskantha district, in order to address the growing concern about students' declining mental health.
We developed the plan for a 3-day SEL workshop that included content creation for various topics under the themes of Self-Management, Self-Awareness, Social-Awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision Making.
Piloted the first SEL workshop in the Banaskantha District with 160 student teachers.
